Yes it would! we miss it and detest the"charm of the coast slogan" My grandparents came to rockport/fulton in the 40's and it was alway know to us a "The Toast of the Coast" not the politically correct slogan they use now...
The slogan "Toast of the Coast" was composed by Miss Mary Augusta (Gussie) Deane (1920-2000), a life-long resident of Rockport, long the bookkeeper of Johnson's Fish Company and later for many year County Auditor. The leaping, top-hatted fish raising a glass with one fin was designed by Mrs. Norvell (Neva) Jackson. The "Charm of the Texas Coast"--dull, colorless, and, worst of all, nonsensical-- is a poor replacement. Many, I suspect, would welcome a return to the old slogan.
